Where's My Refund
Why do I have to enter this information from my 2024 return?
In order to e-file, the IRS needs to verify your identity as you file your 2025 return.
They do this either by asking you about your
adjusted gross income
from your 2024 return
or
you can enter your
prior year PIN
.
They require this information to keep you safe and to ensure no one but you can file your tax return or claim your refund.
