The Prior Year PIN is the five-digit electronic signature used to sign your e-filed 2024 tax return. You either created a PIN signature or your tax preparer assigned or generated a PIN signature if you used a tax professional to e-file your 2024 tax return. You can use your Prior Year PIN
or your Prior Year AGI to verify your identity when using electronic signature.
If you e-filed a tax return with us last year using the same account, we'll pre-fill the Prior Year PIN amount for you on the
Prior Year PIN screen.
If you don't remember your Prior Year PIN and you filed a 2024 return, you can instead use your
Prior Year AGI to e-file your tax return.
If you don't know your Prior Year PIN or your Prior Year AGI, then you'll have to mail your return this year.
