The Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit is a new refundable credit for Pennsylvania that will not be included on your 2025 Pennsylvania tax return. The credit is calculated as 10% of the federal Earned Income Tax Credit and will be available to taxpayers who have earned income in Pennsylvania and who are claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit on their federal return. In 2025, you will need to file your Pennsylvania tax return as normal and if you qualify to claim the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit, the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue will calculate your credit amount and issue it as an adjustment to the refund or tax due amount from your Pennsylvania tax return.
In addition, Pennsylvania will not tax up to $5,000 of dependent and child care benefits from Box 10 of the Form W-2. Pennsylvania has also added a new student loan interest deduction, where up to $2,500 of student loan interest may be claimed as a deduction on Schedule O.
