Oklahoma tax details

Oklahoma made a few changes for tax year 2025.

There is now an exemption for employers providing paid leave to an employee for the purpose of volunteering as a poll worker with a county election board in Oklahoma.

There is a new Electric Vehicle Charging Tax Credit for taxes on an electric vehicle. The amount of credit allowed for the Credit for Railroad Modernization is 80.93% of the total amount this year.

The voluntary donation to the Y.M.C.A. Youth and Government Program was removed.

If you filed your Oklahoma tax return electronically, you can usually check your OK refund status 4-5 business days after the Oklahoma Tax Commission accepts your return.

Refund status for mailed tax returns

If you mailed your Oklahoma tax return, you should wait 3 to 4 weeks before checking your OK refund status. Once processed, it may take 5 to 7 business days for your refund to appear in your bank account or on a prepaid debit card.

2025 Oklahoma extension

An extension extends the time you have to file your return until October 15, 2026. If you need to pay taxes, you are required to pay the amount due by April 15, 2026.

You need to pay 90% of your taxes by April 15, 2026. If you pay late, you may be charged a 5% late penalty and interest (1.25% per month) on any unpaid taxes.

If you expect an Oklahoma refund:

Your Oklahoma extension is automatic with an accepted federal extension. If your federal extension is not accepted, an Oklahoma extension can be requested with Form 504-I.

If you expect to owe Oklahoma taxes:

Submit Form 504-I with payment by April 15, 2026.
