Massachusetts has many income tax payment options. Find the option that works best for you below.
You can use this payment option when you e-file with us.
Due by Invalid DateA check or money order should be payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Write your Social Security number on the front of your check or money order in the lower left corner and mail with Form PV.
Due by Invalid DateAn extension extends the time you have to file your return until up to October 15, 2026. If you need to pay taxes, you are required to pay the amount due by Invalid Date. If you pay late, you may be charged a late penalty and interest on any unpaid taxes.
Massachusetts extensions are automatic as long as at least 80% of the total amount of tax due is paid before Invalid Date.
If you need to make a payment to get an automatic extension, mail Form M-4868 with your payment by Invalid Date.
Even though the deadline has passed, you can still prepare Massachusetts taxes for prior years. Many people who file late tax returns have refunds waiting for them. We'll help you prepare and mail your federal and state tax returns.
