The Louisiana Department of Revenue made some changes for the 2025 tax year.
Louisiana has removed its tax brackets from prior years and instead used a flat rate of 3% on taxable income. Taxable income is also reduced by a standard deduction of $12,500 for Single and Married Filing Separately taxpayers, or $25,000 for other filing statuses. Louisiana also removed several voluntary contributions, and added a credit for full year residents who installed a fortified roof.

An extension extends the time you have to file your return by up to 6 months. If you know you won't be able to file your return by the due date, you don't need to file an extension request. You'll automatically be granted an extension.
If you expect to owe Louisiana taxes:
An extension of time to file your return is NOT an extension of time to pay taxes owed. If you need to pay taxes, you're required to pay the amount due by Invalid Date, or you may be charged a late penalty and interest on any unpaid taxes.
You can mail Form R-2868V with your payment.
Even though the deadline has passed, you can still prepare Louisiana taxes for prior years. Many people who file late tax returns have refunds waiting for them. We'll help you prepare and mail your federal and state tax returns.
