Do I need to report my child's stock sales on my tax return?

No, do not enter any of your child's income on your tax return. If your child does need to file a tax return, then the child's income needs to be on the child's own separate tax return. However, most children do not need to file a separate tax return because their income is not high enough. See Chart B  from the Form 1040 instructions to figure out if your child needs to file a tax return.

Generally speaking, if the child did not have more than $1,350 in investment income, you do not need to file a tax return for the child.

See Child's Investment Income for more information.
