Child's Investment Income screen.
You may elect to report your child's investment income on your return if your child has more than $1,350 of investment income and meets certain conditions. If you elect to report your child's income on your return your child
will not have to file a return.
A child's investment income only needs to be reported if the child is
required to file a tax return. If the child does not need to file a tax return, but had federal tax withheld from wages or investment income, then a tax return for the child should be filed to get a refund of the federal tax withheld.
