If the payment was cancelled or declined, the pending charge should drop soon after the cancellation is successful. You may see two transactions on your card: one for the pending charge, and one for the reversal.
If the
cancellation was unsuccessful, the pending charge normally drops within 10 business days, depending on bank policies. To get the pending charge to drop more quickly, you'll need to contact your bank. It's best to call the phone number on the back of your card.
If you are paying with a prepaid debit card, the pending charge might take longer to drop.
If your payment was cancelled or declined, and you still need to pay your federal tax due, you'll need to enter your credit card information again or use another payment method.
