Wisconsin tax details

Wisconsin has a new retirement subtraction available this year. Individuals who are at least 67 years old at the end of 2025 may subtract up to $24,000 of retirement income.

The subtraction for contributions to a Wisconsin-sponsored college savings account increased to $5,130 ($2,560 for married, filing separate returns).

The subtraction for tuition and feeds increased to $7,649 per student and the phase-out range has increased.

The maximum subtraction for adoption expenses increased to $15,000 per child.

2025 Wisconsin extension

An extension extends the time you have to file your return until October 15, 2026 at the latest. If you need to pay taxes, you are required to pay the amount due by April 15, 2026.

If you pay late, you may be charged interest (1% per month) on any unpaid taxes.

If you expect a refund from Wisconsin:

If you expect to owe Wisconsin taxes:

Submit Form 1-ES (Estimated Payment Voucher) with payment by April 15, 2026.
