The Utah State Tax Commission made several changes for the 2018 tax year. The individual tax rate has been reduced to 4.95% and the Taxpayer Tax Credit amounts have increased. As a result of federal tax reform, Utah exemptions are now calculated using dependents claimed for the Federal Child Tax Credit and Other Dependent Credit.
Utah also added another voluntary contribution option, the Governor's Suicide Prevention Fund, and a new Small Employer Retirement Program Credit. Finally, the Utah Education Savings Plan (UESP) has been renamed the Utah my529 Plan.
