Nebraska 2018 Tax Updates

The Nebraska Department of Revenue introduced four new tax credits and the Schedule TANF for the 2017 tax year. Of the four credits, the Employer TANF Credit and the School Readiness Credit for Providers are nonrefundable credits. The Volunteer Emergency Responders credit and School Readiness Credit for Staff Members are refundable credits.

In addition to the new credits, Nebraska standard deductions and the personal exemption amounts were increased. Also, common credits such as the Nebraska Earned Income Credit and the Nebraska Child/Dependent Care Credit (either nonrefundable or refundable according to their limits) remain on the Nebraska tax return.
