Michigan 2018 Tax Updates

The Michigan Department of Treasury made several changes for the 2018 tax year. First, many changes were made to either conform or depart from the expansive federal tax updates. An important distinction with these updates is the Michigan state tax return will still allow personal exemptions with Michigan's own specific rules for claiming them. Other changes to this year's return include new Michigan funds that you can donate part or all of your refund to and several inflation-updated amounts on the return including a new higher maximum Homestead Property Tax Credit.
