Iowa 2018 Tax Updates

The Iowa department of Revenue made several changes for the 2017 tax laws. Iowa's income tax brackets have changed slightly, along with several school district tax rates. The standard deduction for Iowa returns has increased to $2,000 ($4,920 for married filing jointly filers).

Qualified charitable distributions from an IRA must be included for Iowa income, despite being exempt for federal purposes. Additionally, the Iowa Adoption Tax Credit limit has been raised to $5,000 per child for adoptions finalized in 2017.
