Illinois 2018 Tax Updates

The Illinois Department of Revenue made several changes for the 2018 tax year. The flat tax rate was changed from 4.3549% to 4.95% and the exemption amount was increased from $2,175 to $2,225. Illinois also added a subtraction for contributions made to a qualified Illinois ABLE account.

Additionally, the Illinois Earned Income Credit was increased from 14% to 18% of the federal Earned Income Credit. The Hunger Relief Fund was also added as a new voluntary contribution, while two old voluntary contribution funds were removed.
