Georgia Tax Details

The Georgia Department of Revenue made a few minor changes for the 2020 tax year. The limit for subtractions for contributing to a Path2College 529 plan increased from $4000 to $8000 per beneficiary for taxpayers who are married filing jointly and from $2000 to $4000 per beneficiary for taxpayers using any other filing status. Credit 147: the Personal Protective Equipment Manufacturer Jobs tax credit was added this year.

For part-year residents, Georgia now allows taxpayers to calculate the Georgia amount of their deductions and exemptions by using a ratio based either on their Georgia adjusted gross income to federal adjusted gross income or on the number of days spent in Georgia.
