Questions & Answers

How do I know how much income belongs to Iowa if I'm a part-year resident of Iowa?

Part-year resident income is usually all income you received during the part of the year you were a resident of Iowa. You should also include any income you received from working in Iowa or from Iowa sources during the part of the year you were a nonresident of Iowa.

For example, if you received interest income evenly throughout the year and you lived in Iowa for half the year, then you would include half of your interest income.

Also, if you received business income in Iowa while living in another state, then you would include any business income received in Iowa.
