Questions & Answers

What is the Ohio Lead Abatement Credit?

The Lead Abatement Credit is a credit to help Ohio property owners pay for lead abatement costs in dwellings built before 1978. The maximum credit is $10,000 per taxpayer, per eligible dwelling.

The Ohio Department of Health Lead Abatement Tax Credit page   has more information about the credit.

To get a credit you'll need to submit an application to the Ohio Department of Health. Once the Department of Health has approved the application, they'll grant you a credit.

If you can't use your entire credit on your tax return (you don't owe enough tax to apply it towards), you can carry forward the unused portion to use in later years, for up to 7 years.
