Questions & Answers

How do I figure the Illinois Property Tax Credit?

You figure this credit using the Illinois property or real estate taxes you paid in 2020 on your principal residence in Illinois (not a vacation home or rental property) for the time you owned and lived at the property during 2019.

If you have a mortgage and your property taxes are paid through your bank, the property taxes will be included on the Form 1098 you receive from your bank.

The credit may not be figured for mobile home privilege tax, penalties, or fees included in your property tax bill.
