Questions & Answers

What is the Kansas Homestead Refund?

The Kansas Homestead Refund is a refund (maximum $700) of a portion of the property taxes paid on your Kansas homestead. Kansas defines a homestead as a house, condo, apartment, mobile home, or other place in which you own and occupy as a resident. Your refund percentage is based on your total household income, and the refund is a percentage of your general property tax.

If you own a homestead with an appraised valuation for property tax purposes of $350,000 or more, you do not qualify for a homestead claim.
