Questions & Answers

What are administrative or management activities?

Examples of administrative or management activities include:

  • Billing customers, clients, or patients
  • Keeping books and records
  • Ordering supplies
  • Setting up appointments
  • Forwarding orders or writing orders
You can still claim your home office if:
  • You have another person or company perform administrative or management activities for you at other locations besides your home. For example, you may have another company do all your bookkeeping for you at their office.
  • You perform administrative or management activities at unfixed locations like your car or a hotel room.
  • You occasionally perform minimal administrative or management activities at a fixed location that is not your home.
  • You perform nonadministrative or nonmanagement business activities outside your home.
  • You have a suitable space to conduct administrative or management activities outside your home, but choose to use your home office for those activities instead.
