What is the American Indian subtraction?
You may be able to subtract all or part of your income if all of the following are true:
- You are an enrolled member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe.
- Your income was from sources within federally recognized Indian country in Oregon.
- You lived in federally recognized Indian country in Oregon when the income was earned.
After you have completed the form, enter your total exempt American Indian income on this screen to have this income subtracted from your Oregon taxable income.
By subtracting exempt American Indian income, you will need to mail your Oregon tax return with your completed Exempt Income Schedule for Enrolled Members of a Federally Recognized American Indian Tribe. We'll walk you through how to mail your return later.
