Questions & Answers

What is the purpose of Delaware's Credit for Taxes Paid to Another State?

This credit allows you to avoid paying taxes to Delaware for income that was already taxed by another state.

For example, if you filed a nonresident return reporting taxes owed to Maryland for income that you also have to report on your Delaware return, your Delaware taxes owed can likely be reduced.

If you qualify for this credit, you'll need to attach a copy of any tax returns you prepared for the other state(s) with your Delaware tax return. If you e-file your Delaware return, we'll provide an address where you can mail the returns to separately.
