How is my 2021 apportionment rate calculated?
If you are a non-resident who apportions your income based on days spent working in Massachusetts, for the period January 1, 2021 through September 13, 2021, your wages are apportioned using the same method you were required to use for the period March 10, 2020 through December 31, 2020. You would have been required to apportion wages for that period by using either:
Additionally, if you began working for a new employer in 2021, wages earned will be apportioned based on actual workdays in and out of Massachusetts after the start of your new job.
- The percentage of days spent working inside Massachusetts during January 1, 2020 through February 29, 2020.
- If you worked for the same employer in 2019 and 2020, you can use your 2019 apportionment percentage.
