What is New Jersey's definition of a veteran?

A veteran is a person who has been honorably discharged or released under honorable circumstances from active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States as of the last day of the tax year.

If you're a veteran, then you qualify for New Jersey's $6,000 Veteran's Exemption.
