Questions & Answers

How much can I deduct as a Michigan Net Operating Loss?

A net operating loss is an excess of deductions over gross income, subject to certain adjustments. The most common reason for having a net operating loss would be if you had an unprofitable business.

You may only deduct the Michigan NOL. Your Michigan NOL carryforward entered here must be reduced as required under IRC 172 if adjustments are attributable to Michigan. See Form 1045.
