Why can I only deduct some healthcare expenses if they're above a certain amount?
Ohio limits the deduction you can take for some healthcare costs to only the amount you paid for them that's above 7.5% of your federal adjusted gross income. That's the number we've shown here on the screen.
You can't deduct anything less than that amount. If you already know that don't have that many of these types of expenses for 2025 then you simply don't need to do anything here.
The expenses that are limited are your unreimbursed out-of-pocket health insurance and Medicare premiums (from any part of the year when you were eligible for Medicare or employer-sponsored health insurance) and your unreimbursed medical expenses other than premiums (like copays, eye care, dental costs, prescriptions, etc.).
If the total you paid of these expenses is greater than 7.5% of your adjusted gross income (the amount shown on the screen) you'll be able to deduct any amounts over that limit.
