I forgot my email address and can't get into my account

If you forgot your email address and need to change it, you have two options.

If you have a phone number on your FreeTaxUSA account
  1. On the Sign In screen click Forgot username or password? .
  2. Enter your phone number and select Continue.
  3. Verify your SSN. If you are filing jointly, enter the SSN of the first person on the account.
  4. Select how you want to receive a password recovery code, and select Continue.
  5. Enter the recovery code you receive.
  6. Write down your username and reset your password if you need to.
You can then sign into your account and update your email by clicking on the Account menu in the top right corner of your screen and then selecting Account Info. This will bring you to the Edit User Profile screen where you can change your email address, username, password, 2-step verification settings, messaging preferences, and phone number.

If you don't have a phone number on your FreeTaxUSA account
You'll need to email Customer Support at support@support.freetaxusa.com. Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the information on each account, Customer Support may not be able to update your email address.
