What if I don't have my care provider's Social Security number (SSN) or Employer Identification number (EIN)?

Without your care provider's SSN or EIN, the IRS may reduce or disallow your Child Care Credit, unless you can show you used due diligence in trying to get this required information.

If you don't have your care provider's SSN or EIN, you need to show a serious and earnest effort to get the information. Ask your care provider to complete Form W-10 .

If you still can't get your care provider's information, keep records of your efforts in case the IRS reduces or disallows your Child Care Credit.
