How do I know if my school is required to send a Form 1098-T?

Most of the time a school is required to send a Form 1098-T. However, some schools aren't required to do so if any of the following are true:

• You're a nonresident alien.
• You pay your education expenses entirely with scholarships.
• You pay your education expenses under a formal billing arrangement.
• You're enrolled in courses that don't provide any academic credit.
