What is Voluntary Plan Disability Insurance (VPDI)?
Employers in California have the option to establish a voluntary disability insurance plan instead of using the state-run plan.
If you're paying into a voluntary plan instead of the state plan, your employer will withhold Voluntary Plan Disability Insurance (VPDI) instead of State Disability Insurance (SDI) from your wages.
Be sure you don't enter the amount from Box 14 as both SDI and VPDI - Generally you are only paying into one or the other. If you have questions about whether the amount is SDI or VPDI, contact your employer.
