What deductions can I itemize for North Carolina?

North Carolina doesn't allow all of the federal itemized deductions, but you are allowed to itemize the following:

• Qualifying home mortgage interest
• Real estate property taxes
• Charitable contributions
• Medical and dental expenses
• Repayment of claim of right income

North Carolina filers can itemize deductions on their North Carolina return even if they did not itemize on their federal return.
