You can choose to skip this, but if you're filing one of
these state returns, you should still enter any
Itemized Deductions you have. Itemized deductions that you enter may reduce your
state taxes even if you end up taking the
Standard Deduction on your federal return.
We recommend that you enter all
Itemized Deductions that apply to you, just to be sure you're getting the best deduction possible.
However, if you're confident that your
Standard Deduction is larger than your
Itemized Deductions, you can skip entering them. Here's how:
- Just click Save and Continue without selecting any of the boxes on this screen.
- You may need to click Continue again (no need to enter any of your Itemized Deductions if shown), and you'll see your Standard Deduction.
