What are the important filing dates for the 2025 tax season?
November 2025: A limited version of the 2025 software will be available in late October or early November so that you can begin preparing your 2025 federal return.
January 2026: You can submit your return using FreeTaxUSA after the first week of January. We will hold your e-filed return and submit it to the IRS as soon as they start processing e-filed returns (expected to be end of January).
February 2026: You can prepare an amended return using FreeTaxUSA in mid-February.
April 2026: The deadline for filing your tax return this year is April 15, 2026.
October 2026: If you filed an extension, the deadline for filing your tax return is October 15, 2026.
