I am preparing a return for the wrong tax year. How do I sign in to the software for a different tax year?
There is a different version of the FreeTaxUSA software for each tax year. Make sure that you are signed in to the correct software for the year you want to file. For example, if you want to file a 2022 tax return, you need to make sure that you are signed in to the 2022 software. The Sign In screen indicates which year's software you are signing in to.
If you have already entered information into the wrong year's software, you will need to re-enter that information after you sign in to the correct year's software since the information can not be transferred over to any other year.
If you are currently signed in to the software for the wrong tax year, click Sign Out under the Account menu. Go to the FreeTaxUSA.com home page. To sign in to the software for a different year, click the Prior Year link at the top of the page, and select the year you would like to prepare. Sign in with the same username and password that you previously used.
