Minnesota Extension

If you're unable to file your Minnesota income tax return by April 15, 2026, you may file under extension. This means you'll have extra time to file your return - it'll need to be filed by October 15, 2026. You don't have to submit an extension request to Minnesota to file under an extension.

The extension of time to file is NOT an extension of time for payment of tax. You must file Minnesota Form MN-EXT by the April deadline if you have tax due.

To calculate any tax due with Form MN-EXT, visit Menu Path: Account > File an Extension. You'll need to mail in your completed Form MN-EXT with any payment when you're done.
