The Montana
Elderly Homeowner/Renter Credit is a property tax relief program for homeowners and renters that provides you with a refundable credit of up to $1,150 if you meet the following requirements:
- Age 62 or older
- Resided in Montana for at least nine months during the year
- Occupied a Montana residence as a renter, owner, or lessee for at least six months during the year
- Gross household income is less than $45,000
Note: A household means an association of persons who live in the same dwelling, sharing its furnishings, facilities, accommodations or expenses. You don't need to be related to be in the same household.
Only one member of each household may claim this credit. If another member of your household is claiming this credit on their Montana tax return this year, you can't also claim it.
