Select your filing status on the Filing Status screen.
You may use the Single filing status if on December 31, 2025 you were unmarried, legally separated, or divorced. If you have a child or qualifying person who lives with you, you usually can qualify for Head of Household filing status, which will typically give you a larger refund.
