What happens when I e-file?
When you e-file your tax return, it is sent electronically to the IRS.
When you click on the Send Tax Return button on the Submit Return For Processing screen in our software, it is the same as if you dropped your tax return into a locked mail box.
Be sure that you do not need to go back and make any changes before clicking Send Tax Return. Make sure you do not need to wait for any additional W-2, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV forms or other tax forms before you file. You will not be able to make any changes once your return is sent, unless it is rejected. If your return is accepted, you will need to file an amendment to make any changes.
Filing before receiving all W-2 forms etc. is the most common reason for having to file an amended tax return.
