Enter your birth date on the Taxpayer Information screen. If married, enter your spouse's birth date on the Spouse Information screen.
You receive an increase to your standard deduction if you or your spouse is age 65 or older. If you itemize your deductions instead of taking the standard deduction then you do not get any benefit on your federal tax return, however, many states also have deductions and credits for people age 65 or older.
