Standard Deduction

Menu Path: Deductions/Credits > Standard or Itemized Deductions

The Standard Deduction is a reduction of your taxable income by a set amount for each filing status. For 2025, the Standard Deduction amounts are:
  • Single or Married Filing Separately: $15,750
  • Married Filing Jointly or Qualifying Surviving Spouse: $31,500
  • Head of Household: $23,625
You can enter your Itemized Deductions, and we'll calculate whether they exceed the Standard Deduction. You'll automatically receive the larger deduction.

If you want to take the Standard Deduction instead of itemizing your deductions, you can skip the Itemized Deductions screen by clicking Save and Continue.
