Business Income and Expenses (Schedule C)

Menu Path: Income > Business / Rental Income > Business Income (Schedule C)

If you have self-employment income or business income from a sole proprietorship (not a corporation or partnership), you will need to enter your business income on a Schedule C. The IRS also considers consulting or contractor income as business income that needs to be entered on a Schedule C.

Most self-employment income is reported on Form 1099-NEC or Form 1099-MISC. If you have self-employment income reported on either of these forms, you will enter the 1099 document first and then we will walk you through attaching this income to a Schedule C.
