What if I can't find my receipts?

If the IRS ever questions your return, they may ask you to provide receipts and other documentation to verify your return entries. The IRS recommends that you keep all receipts associated with any credits/deductions on your tax return.

If you cannot find your receipts, the IRS may allow you to provide evidence by using a different source.
