What is a Corrected W-2 or W-2C?
If your employer sends a second W-2 after sending the first, it's usually a corrected W-2 issued to fix errors on the original and provide the correct information.
It should say Form W-2c, Corrected Wage and Tax Statement on the new one.
If your corrected W-2 is complete, just enter the corrected W-2; rather than the original one.
If your corrected W-2 only shows the changes made to the original, for instance, only amounts in Box 1 and Box 12 changed, then enter the original W-2 and just add the changes shown on the corrected one in place of Box 1 and Box 12 of the W-2.
Either way, use the most current information and mark YES at the bottom of the screen that this is a corrected W-2.
If it does NOT say W-2c on it, it may be that your employer caught the mistake before submitting it to the IRS. In this case, you do not need to mark that it was a corrected W-2, just use the newer one when you file.
