What is a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)?

An HDHP is a health plan with a higher deductible than a traditional insurance plan. The monthly premium is usually lower, but you pay more health care costs yourself before the insurance company starts to pay its share. An HDHP should meet the following requirements:

SELF ONLY COVERAGE:
Minimum annual deductible of $1,650
Maximum out of pocket expense: $8,300

FAMILY COVERAGE:
Minimum annual deductible of $3,300
Maximum out of pocket expense: $16,600
