Where do I enter health insurance premiums for deductions?
If you have health insurance through an employer, you will not enter your health insurance premiums separately as a deduction. Premiums from an employer-provided health insurance plan are pre-tax deductions from the gross income on your W-2 (i.e. the premiums have already been deducted).
Generally, health insurance premiums that you pay out of pocket are entered on the Medical Expenses screen:
Menu Path: Deductions/Credits > Itemized Deductions > Medical Expenses screen.
If you are self-employed, enter your health insurance premiums with your business Schedule C record:
Menu Path: Income > Business / Rental Income > Business Income (Schedule C)
