Invalid character error message for my W-2

If you're getting an invalid character message for your W-2 and the invalid character really is on the actual W-2, then you will not need to enter that invalid character on the W-2 screen even if it is on your actual W-2. For example, if the employer address has an exclamation mark in it "!", that is an invalid character. So even if your W-2 shows a ! sign, do not type in a ! sign on the employer address. The IRS does not allow certain characters to be e-filed in certain fields.
