Once I pay my fee, will my tax return be e-filed with the IRS?

No. There are a few more steps in between paying your tax prep fees and filing your return. Your tax return is not filed when you go through the Payment screen. There are several steps left such as entering direct deposit information, reviewing your tax returns to make sure you are ready to file, and entering your PIN for your electronic signature.

Only you can submit your tax return for e-filing. This is done when you go to the last screen and click the Send Tax Return button at the bottom of that screen.
