Can I change or add direct deposit information after I e-file?

No. Once the IRS accepts your e-filed tax return, there is not any way to change the direct deposit information on the tax return.

If the direct deposit information is incorrect, the IRS will send you Notice CP53E requesting your direct deposit information. If you fail to respond to the notice within 30 days from the date on the notice, the IRS will hold your refund for 6 weeks and then mail a refund check to the address on the tax return instead of having the refund directly deposited.
