How do I get my prior year AGI if I cannot locate my 2024 return?

You can request an IRS transcript of your tax return from the IRS website.

Don't worry, all your tax return information you've entered so far is saved, and once you have your transcript, you can sign in and get right back here to finish filing.

A transcript includes items from your tax return as it was originally filed. You can use the IRS Online Transcript tool to get your transcript immediately, or you can request a mailed transcript, which usually takes 5 to 10 business days to arrive.

There are three ways to request a transcript:
  1. Use the IRS Get Transcript Online tool (immediate access)
  2. Call 1-800-908-9946 (5 to 10 days for mailed transcript)
  3. Use Form 4506-T  (5 to 10 days after the IRS receives your Form 4506-T)
You may also call the IRS toll free number at 1-800-829-1040. If you can provide certain information to the Customer Service Representative (such as your name, SSN and current address), you may receive your information over the phone. Be sure to ask for your original AGI so you can file electronically using an e-file PIN method.
